Pacific Palisades Residence, Los Angeles, California, USA

First, it is the height, the arches and the whiteness that attract our eyes and strike us as amazing about the main lounge of the Pacific Palisades residence. But in the end, it is the stunning, minimalist double-height fireplace that is the central focus and the most astonishing feature of this space. It is by far our favourite element of the entire house.

These structural components determine the overall feel of the house whose celebrity owners entrusted West Hollywood-based Studio Lifestyle with the interior design of their home.

Just like so many of Studio Lifestyle’s famous clients, the owners of this property wish to avoid publicity in their private lives so details are scarce and the designers are, understandably, not talking either. However, we have been given access to these gorgeous images via the design studio and some information we have gleaned elsewhere.

Height, arches and white colour continue as the prevailing characteristics throughout the approximately 10,000 square-foot (960 sq.m.) house. The arches and columns also produce fascinating vistas within the spaces, and just as if they were picture frames, they define seating areas and furniture settings.

The arches of various widths and heights together with the white ceilings with their exposed wood beams give the entire house a feel of well-orchestrated vignettes or storylines. In each view, there is a different sense of occasion or purpose. We know what each area is for, even though we have no explanations or details. And yet, the environment is relaxed and livable.

The use of neutral shades of wood and stone creates a calm overall feel and helps set off the individual pieces of art and furnishings in each room.

Flanking a white-wood plank table in the dining room are Giac chairs by Brooklyn-based De La Vega Designs upholstered in nubbly white fabric and featuring a matte black finish on the frame. The space is open on all sides; through the arched columns and sliding doors to the living areas and to the patio and garden outside.

In the kitchen, the gray marble splash above the Viking Tuscany range continues the sense of practical luxury.

In the spa area that includes a tiny sauna the use of wood and stone creates and elegant and subdued calm, with luxury bathroom fittings, including the LMK Pure shower by Samuel Heath, adding to the feel of opulent comfort.

Pacific Palisades is an affluent residential neighbourhood in the Westside region of Los Angeles. About 20 miles (32 km) west of Downtown Los Angeles. Pacific Palisades is  situated in an ideal setting by the Pacific Ocean flanked by the Santa Monica Mountains.

We have covered recently another project by the same design team here. Tuija Seipell
